Membership to the Okaloosa Walton Homeless Continuum of Care

This year few of us can stop complaining about the heat. The temperatures started climbing in May, and have already reached 100 several times. Now imagine living in this heat in a car, an abandoned shed, in a tent, in a rusted-out camper with no utility hook-up. There is no ready access to water, much less air conditioning, or refuge from the mosquitoes and biting flies. Taking a shower is a logistical nightmare. You need to work, but the only work you can do without access to hygiene is manual labor, again in the heat. Now imagine that you are a child. Opportunity, Inc. serves as the lead agency for churches, faith-based organizations and non-profits trying to help those whose very survival is threatened by the sun. We also operate Opportunity Place, a shelter for homeless families. We need your support to assist service providers of all kinds in making sure there is available food, water, sun screen, insect spray, and a place to come in out of the heat.

Our membership year runs from July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012. This is a great time to become a member of our organization, and join in our efforts to provide respite for those in greatest need. Individual memberships are set at $25; agency memberships at $50, and business sponsorships are $150, but you can donate whatever you like.
